Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir

The Golden Gate International Children’s and Youth Choral Festival is hosted by the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir, an internationally acclaimed program of choral training and performance. Founded in 1982, the Choir has established itself as a leading force in international choral activities and new music. With concert tours to more than twenty-five nations, and sponsorship of the Golden Gate Festival, the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir is vigorously engaged in the global community of choral ensembles. The Choir regularly collaborates with major arts organizations including the Oakland East Bay Symphony, Cal Performances, the Mark Morris Dance Company, Berkeley West Edge Opera, and Volti. Recognizing that the creation of art is a forward-looking and forward-thinking endeavor, the choir has commissioned and premiered dozens of new works by living composers, has won numerous first prize awards for new music in international competitions, and engages in a never-ceasing exploration of innovative repertoire from around the world.
